Trip & Karam, an international network with a meaningful message inspired by Muslim values

In January 2017, we announced the release of the platform Trip & Karam through our awaiting website. In three months, the latter has shown more than 150 pre-registrations, in 58 towns of 32 countries on the 5 continents. Strengthened by its growing notoriety, Trip & Karam continues to grow steadily, until counting 1400 followers on Facebook in mid of May.

It is also through its official Facebook page that the team Trip & Karam has made efforts to introduce the project to the greatest number of people, having as key words "Hospitality", "Sharing", "Respect" and "Tolerance", while respecting the Muslim traditions.

Hospitality, Curiosity and Cultural Openness

Indeed, if the idea is to enable Muslims to travel and to be hosted safely, according to their beliefs, while respecting their practices and within a spirit of fraternity and friendliness, the platform is also open to non-Muslims who are curious to discover the Muslim faith , its ethic and the huge diversity of traditions that makes up this community.

Furthermore, it is important to know that Trip & Karam is not a platform exclusively devoted to free hosting, it is also possible to meet ‘Karamers’ for a day or even for an afternoon, thanks to the functionality ‘Meeting’ available on the website.

A simple, flexible and free tool

The platform is free, easy to use, and available from all over the world, by logging on the website: www.tripandkaram.com.Trip & Karam offers four types of registration profile : woman, man, couple and family, and comprises an option enabling  men and women to hide your profile from the opposite sex. The members will be also free to accept or refuse the requests of travelers.

The platform also has a ‘Messaging functionality’ enabling members to communicate between each other and get to know each other before a future meeting in order to establish a trusting relationship between members.

Who are we?

Behind that concept, Imane Henry (22yo) and Ilias Guernane ( 21yo), two young Franco-Algerian students and childhood friends. Imane, a former athlete of the national Algerian fencing team and Arab vice-champion, is currently a first year master student in International and European Law between the University of Angers (France) and the University of Mannheim (Germany). Ilias, an assistant coach of Karate and a webmaster entrepreneur,  is currently a  first year master student in System and Network Administrator in Angers.

From where does this idea come from?

The concept Trip & Karam began to germinate during a journey in Palestine, where Imane had the chance to break the fast during Ramadan and to be hosted by Palestinian families. The turning point happened when she saw some of her close relatives and friends being denied access from temporary accommodations because of their faith and/or veils.

After mulling over the idea, she finally decided to take the plunge on this project and she proposed to her childhood friend, lIias, to join her in the adventure. Together, they wish to participate to the development of this new community, which facilitates travels and encounters between members and in which, all forms of prejudices, discrimination and racism are rejected.

A supportive and collaborative spirit

Until now, the concept Trip & Karam has received a lot of positive feedback, with supportive and encouraging messages. Several fugures with a strong popularity have also shared the project, to contribute to its success. The website registers everyday new pre-registrations from all over the world, and the number of followers on the social networks are increasing constantly, over the months. The crowdfunding campaign has also been a success,  indeed it has raised 110% of the objective fixed: 4400 € !

An ambitious team

Strengthened by its growing popularity, the team Trip & Karam doesn't intend to stop here, and has many projects in mind in the coming months, that aim to develop the platform continually, thanks to the improvement and the creation of new functionalities, so that they become a major actor of the halal collaborative economy, and plus, become THE reference in the field of authentic travel and halal social network !
